VISA Releases an Online Search Tool to Assist Those Affected by Disaster Locate Open Businesses
VISA has released an online search tool to assist those in disaster areas locate businesses that may be open. The Hurricane Store locator allows users to find stores by categories (fuel, food, convenience, and lodging) that have accepted VISA payments recently. A link to the store locator is below:

St. Thomas, USVI Airport Set to Reopen for Commercial Flights on Thursday, September 28.
Governor Mapp announced Monday that the Cyril E. King Airport on St. Thomas is expected to reopen for commercial flights on Thursday. Travelers are advised to arrive four (4) hours before their scheduled departure time. Read the full press release here:

Operation Blue Roof Underway on St. Thomas, St. John, and Slated for St. Croix.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in conjunction with the Federal Emergency Management Agency is installing temporary, blue tarp roofs on damages homes in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Operation Blue Roof is active on St. Thomas and St. John and is soon to be underway on St. Croix. The blue roofs are free, but homeowners must sign Right of Entry forms to allow the work to be completed. Governor Mapp Urges USVI Residents to Apply for FEMA Individual Assistance.
Governor urges residents to apply for Individual Assistance (IA) using website www.DisasterAssistance.gov. The process has been tested and is efficient, he said. The telephone number to apply for IA is 1-800-621-3362.
IA online application process is aided by creation of Wi-Fi hotspots at Tutu Park Mall, Havensight Shopping Center and the Emile Griffith Ballpark on St. Thomas. On St. John, the Wi-Fi hotspot is the Port Authority parking lot, Cruz Bay, thanks to Viya. Link to Application:

Major Disaster Declaration Declared for the U.S. Virgin Islands
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced today that federal disaster assistance has been made available to the territory of the U.S. Virgin Islands to supplement territory recovery efforts in the areas affected by Hurricane Irma from September 6, 2017, and continuing.

City of New Orleans Advises Residents to Use Caution During Area Flood Advisory
According to the National Weather Service, New Orleans is under an areal flood advisory until 2:15 p.m. today, August 28, 2017. Additionally, Southwest Louisiana is under a flood watch until Thursday, August 31, 2017.
Residents are advised to use caution around areas prone to significant street flooding such as streets under bridges and overpasses. City of New Orleans Press Release
